The 2017-2018 season of historic piano concerts comes to a close with a long-awaited concert of not less than 5 sonatas for violin and piano from the baroque up till the classical repertoire. In this unique concert, the well-known duo, made up of British violinist, Catherine Martin and Maltese pianist, Joanne Camilleri, will be showcasing their inimitable and authentic style of performance in the intimate and jaw-dropping Cathedral Museum in Malta's old capital city of Mdina.

Catherine Martin is a foremost violinist and specialist of performance on period instruments. She is the leader of the Gabrieli Consort and Players, Die Kölner Akademie, Early Opera Company and the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble. Catherine is in demand both as a violin soloist and as director of various international orchestras. She appears on numerous recordings for labels including Deutshe Grammophon, EMI and Chandos.

Leading Maltese pianist and harpsichordist, Joanne Camilleri is the holder of a Doctorate of Music in Performance and is one of Malta's most active keyboard players, rendering many concerts in Malta and abroad, both as soloist and with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2013 and 2014, Joanne released solo albums with her recordings of some of Bach's most exquisite music, including the Goldberg variations.

Historic Piano Concerts offers a unique classical music experience through the combination of top musicians; one of the most inspiring and authentic-sounding pianos on the island - a historic A.D. 1890 Blüthner piano; and a stunning venue - the Cathedral Museum, in the heart of Malta's medieval city of Mdina.

The main halls of the museum will be open throughout the evening and patrons will be welcome to walk around and enjoy the Art.

Wine will be served after the concert with compliments of Emmanuel Delicata Winemaker Ltd.
